Starting a Chapter

Graphic with five interconnected blocks labeled: Promote Networking, Build Careers, Mentoring, Face-to-Face Events, Educational Programs.

BPNG as an umbrella organization supports individual chapters in the following ways:

a. We provide all the guidance on the brand from training through shared files

b. Existing chapters help new chapters by sharing expertise and experience via email or zoom. We often pair people up, for instance an existing chapter lead helps the new chapter lead one-on-one

c. We also share resources, so a new group of people don’t have to reinvent the wheel. We also share contacts for example sponsorship

d. The Outreach Director works hands-on with new chapter’s LinkedIn groups and she and I provide the chapter’s webpage support

e. When a new chapter starts, we host the initial Zoom meetings to guide the new steering committee to launch. We have items like a check list that was developed by other chapter steering committees, plus a lot more.

Are you interested in opening a dialogue about starting a new BPNG Chapter in your local biotech hub? Starting a chapter may be easier than you think. Our long history, over a decade of experience in starting and running BPNG chapters, provides a sound foundation to new groups. We employ a “Chapter in a Box” approach that covers setting up a team to running monthly events. A new chapter will have just about everything they need to get going.
